Great location but beware that ‘mountain view’ means looking directly across at other units.
Great location, friendly staff and very comfortable room. The breakfast was also good with the breakfast venue overlooking the lake and the resorts pond. Excellent stay!
Excellent stay! Great value! No complaints! The check in was very easy. Parking right outside the accommodation. Close to all the amenities. Warm and comfy. Only thing I could advise, compared to other accommodations is having a smart tv to watch things like netflix. (Seems to be the trend across hotels) Everything else amazing! Over the years, we've mostly stayed in Fox Glacier, but after a lull of over 10 years, we've returned to the South Island to do some more walks, and selected this motel to explore Franz Josef a bit more again. First impressions on walking into our room were, it was clean, bright and modern, and tastefully decorated, making the place feel so light, airy, and open. Then, the provision of so much lighting was lovely, which in some motels are insufficient for adequate brightness . Fantastically designed and equipped kitchen area. Crockery and cutlery top notch. Fantastic stainless steel cooking equipment and the best ever - a stainless steel kettle. Many establishments I am glad are slowly doing away with the horrid plastic kettles - thank goodness. Simple thing like the raised luggage bench at the door was fantastic. A lovely gesture is the espresso coffee maker with 4 pods. Double glazing on doors and windows and great heating system, ensures a warm stay with minimal heating. We stayed two nights and arrived back from our hike to find our dishes put away, beds made and fresh towels :) I had one concern with the left side of the king bed, but when I raised this with the owner on leaving, she was most grateful as she was unaware that maybe the springs had collapsed. Beyond expectation
Aspen court is just beyond my expectation. The room is huge, with modern towel heater and floor heater. The owner also prepared us milk and coffee which is really thoughtful. As You’d Expect

Nice place to stay in Franz Josef
We enjoyed our stay at the Aspen Court. It seems like it was recently refurbished. The room was nice and the lighting in the bathroom was the best we had in our entire trip to South Island! The location was good and the staff was friendly. We were very happy with our stay.

Disappointed
The accommodation was very clean and tidy. When you pay decent money for a motel (high end), you would expect a little more. The mattress was so soft it gave us both sore backs, and the towels had been washed about 600 times and were as hard as cardboard.

Owners go the extra mile for your comfort
This has been the best hotel / motel we have had the pleasure of using in New Zealand. The owners have obviously taken a lot of care to make this a luxury home from home so that there is absolutely everything there you could ever require. Excellent stay
Location is one blocks off of the main highway but very quiet with glacier and rainforest views; apartment is spacious and very modern and clean; had full kitchen and supplies, comfortable beds, and spa bathtub. Good, free Wi-Fi and free parking right outside your apartment.
